To maintain your QCP certification, you must recertify every four years. Keep your QCP credential in good standing by submitting your recertification application. Begin the application process by purchasing this application fee. After purchase, you will be asked to attest your completion of the following required elements:

  • Earned at least 80 hours of continuing education (CEs) in the last four four years.
    • At least 15 hours must be in QAPI or quality improvement areas aligning with the QCP program body of knowledge domains.
    • The remaining 65 hours can be for any healthcare-approved continuing education that meets licensure requirements.
  • Completed at least 1,000 practice hours in a long-term care or post-acute care role in the last four years.

Save the documentation to support your continuing education credits. AAPACN conducts random audits of renewal applications. If your application is selected for audit, you will be required to submit all supporting documents. Please maintain a copy of your renewal application and the supporting certificates and other documents for the entire four-year certification period in order to satisfy any audit requests.

Note: Purchasing recertification materials does not extend the expiration date of your credential.

If you do not meet the recertification requirements by the expiration date of your certification, or if you allow your QCP certification to lapse, you will no longer be entitled to use the QCP credential. If you want to regain your certification after your expiration date, you will be required to retake and pass the final exam for the QCP certification program.
