The Fourth of July fireworks are over, so now it’s time to light a new fuse—on Five-Star success! Nearly every piece of Minimum Data Set (MDS) coding plays a role in shaping the Five-Star Quality Rating, but it’s not always obvious how. Join AAPACN Senior Curriculum Development Specialist, Jessie McGill, RN, BSN, RAC-MT, RAC-MTA, to explore MDS 3.0 Quality Measures (QMs) calculations, how these measures impact the Five-Star rating, and how the interdisciplinary team can improve outcomes. From MDS accuracy checks to root-cause analysis (RCA), this 90-minute webinar will uncover what’s really driving poor QM performance and how to correct course effectively.

After participating in this session, learners will be able to:

  • Identify how individual MDS 3.0 items contribute to specific QMs used in the Five-Star Rating System
  • Recognize the impact of QMs on the Five-Star Quality Rating overall star rating
  • Use RCA to identify systematic problems that may impact adverse QM outcomes
